Feb 19 Running Man Episode 679 Review

My Entertainment Score: 5 out of 10 laughs

This seemed like a good farewell for Somin, from her perspective. I think she probably made a great final memory with the members. But these trips continue to be not for me, unfortunately.

What Happened:

Theme: Omniscient Somin Tour

Opening (start of episode- 8:23)

We begin with Somin on her final commute into Running Man, including a stop at the hair and make-up shop. *She plays “Unbelievable” by the group Lucy, which is a great song. Highly recommend checking it out.*

Then we see all the members gathered at the opening location in slave clothes. In order to make Somin shine, that’s the uniform for the day. The members get a secret mission to make hearts while taking polaroid pictures with Somin. There are different heart poses for each member. Each successful heart will earn 10 ‘leaves’ which they will then pass out to the staff. The staff can write a message on each paper that will get hung on a remembrance tree and gifted to Somin at the end of the day.

Race Explanation (8:23- 12:15)

All the expenses for the day will be taken out of the budget for the Running Tour Project.

During the day, Somin can give out badges to members that make her laugh. She begins the day with 25 badges to give out. More badges can be earned through missions given by the staff. At the end of the day, the two members with the most badges will be exempt from punishment. The rest of the members will be eligible for ‘a very embarrassing’ punishment.

Poetry Writing (12:15- 21:18)

The members write poems for Somin that will be revealed later. Somin can also write poems for the members and reveal them as she wishes. Everyone gets lunch while writing.

First Mission: Jump Rope Water Brigade (21:18- 30:50)

Two members will turn the jump rope. Four members begin in the jump rope, each holding an empty bowl. The final member must run in while carrying a bowl of water. The water then needs to be passed from member to member down the line. The last member to get the water has to exit the jump rope and then pour what water is left into a collection bowl. Depending on how much water is in the collection bowl at the end of five attempts, Somin will get more badges to hand out (0 ,5, or 15 badges can be earned).

Some members completed the heart mission and secretly distributed letter sheets to staff members before the members moved on to the next location.

Seoul Land Theme Park (30:50- 48:50)

The members start by renting school uniforms to wear in the park, per Somin’s request. Then they stop in the gift shop to get souvenirs and headbands. Then everyone begins to simply enjoy the park for a while.

More letter sheets are handed out at the end of this segment as the members prepare to move on to the next location. I’ll include the travel time in this segment as well.

Lunch (48:50- 53:50)

This segment begins with Somin reading more of her poems for the members.

Second Mission: We Are One Quiz (53:50- 1:03:45)

Each member must write either all the same answers or all different answers depending on the question. There are 7 questions. Seven correct answers will earn 20 badges. (6 = 15 badges, 5 = 10 badges, 4 = 8 badges, 3 = 6 badges, 2 = 4 badges, 1 = 2 badges, and 0 = 0 badges)

Diary Decoration Shop And Poem Reveals (1:03:45- 1:23:37)

The members buy stickers to decorate the poems they are creating for Somin.

Final Results (1:23:37- end of episode)

The penalty is to wear servant clothes for the entirety of the next episode to Singapore.

After the penalty member is chosen, Somin is gifted with the surprise tree of notes from the staff that the members did the heart missions to get.
