Running Man Episode 671 Review

For a nice change of pace this week, I was disappointed not by a lack of games, but by the editing down of the games. I would have enjoyed seeing more of both the first and second games…especially the second game. V was quietly hilarious throughout.
What Happened:
Theme: Grab Land in V-topia
**Note: I always list names for teams or games in order from oldest to youngest as a sign of respect to Korean culture. I got this strange feeling that we might get new visitors to the site for this article and didn’t want any misunderstandings.**
Opening/Guest Introductions (start of episode- 8:20)
Race Explanation (8:20- 16:35)
V owns 10 plots of land. The members are all tenant farmers. The starting profit for each plot is 10 R coins per round. The winners of games can double the profit of their plot of land and take over another plot of land. V can collect taxes entirely at his discretion as far as percent (up to 50) of profits. The two members with the most coins at the end of the day will get a prize. The loser and a member chosen by the loser (excluding 1st and 2nd place) will get a punishment at the end of the day.
Plot Choices - 10:00. The plots of land are separated by specialty dishes. The plot each member gets will be the lunch that member eats. In order to choose plots, V has to choose the members that he believes are closest to the golden ratio (which V is known for having) face. The order he chooses will get to pick plots of land, up to 2 plots per person.

First Mission: Quiz for Timid Ones (20:10- 36:44)
Four teams of two are formed by random draw and each team sits on a platform. Each team gets a turn as the ‘attacking team’. The attacking team has to guess which of the other teams will correctly guess the answer to the quiz question. Any team that the attacking team correctly guesses will have their platform raised. The attacking team’s platform will rise according to how many teams they incorrectly guess. When a platform rises high enough, flour balloons will pop on the team members’ heads.

Second Tax Collection (36:44- 50:23)
The members from this point on have to hop from their land to “Seoul” where the land owner resides in order to pay taxes. Each plot of land that a member steps on that does not belong to them incurs a 2 coin fine.
Another rule is revealed here. The members can ‘revolt’ by putting 20 coins into the ‘revolt box’. When 20 coins are in the box, a roulette is spun to determine the next land owner. The roulette has 20 spaces. The members that place coins in get spaces on the roulette equal to the number of coins submitted.
Land Transfers - 41:20. The winners of the last game create a dice with lands adjacent to their own (as well as spaces with their current land). If the dice shows a different land, they take that land.
Second Mission: Tenant Farmer’s Blood, Sweat, Tears (50:23- 1:21:48)
Walls with holes are set up. The smaller hole is worth 10 coins. The larger coin is worth 3 coins. When the music stops, everyone runs and attempts to get through one of the holes. One person can get 10 coins in the smaller hole and 2 people can each get 3 coins in the larger hole in each round. There are 3 rounds. At the end of the 3 rounds, the four members that have earned the most coins will get a good lunch from their land as well as double the coins.
Third Tax Time & Lunch (55:05- 1:00:50)
Third Mission: Fake You (1:00:50- 1:34:24)
The members are split into Team Farmers and Team Thieves. Each team has a captain. The captain of Team Farmers knows the 3 non-captain thieves’ identities. The 3 non-captain thieves will also know each other but not their captain. Five missions are played. If 3 or more missions succeed, the farmers win. If 3 or more missions fail, the thieves win. After all 5 games, the results can be flipped if the members of the losing side are able to identify the captain of the winning side.
For each mission, a member is randomly chosen. That member chooses who will complete the mission.
Mission 1 (1:04:47). Four members go outside. Two members work to separate white beans from black beans within the 1 minute, 20 second time limit. The other two attempt to wring enough water out of a wet blanket to fill a container up to the correct line. Haha chooses Seokjin, Jaesuk, Jongkook, and V to complete the mission.
Mission 2 (1:11:06).The same mission is repeated. Jongkook chooses Haha, Jihyo, Somin, and Sechan.
Mission 3 (1:16:50). Four members simply had to run out, write their names on the whiteboard and return in 35 seconds. Sechan chooses Jaesuk, Jongkook, Haha, and V.
Mission 4 (1:25:50). The same mission as 3 is run again with only 27 seconds. Jaesuk chooses Seokjin, Jaesuk, Sechan, and V.
Guess the Chief (1:28:55).
Final Results (1:34:24- end of episode)
The prize this week was a premium meat set. The punishment was not shown…

There are SOOOOOO many 2 coin fees incurred in the ‘travel to Seoul’. I lost all track of the coins everyone had at this point, but they do let us know that Somin now has 38 R coins.
