2Days, 1Night, Season 4- Episode 175 pt 2 - 177 pt 1 Surviving as a Celebrity’s Manager trip Review
*2 Days, 1 Night is a show where 6 regular cast members take themed trips around Korea to show off its charms. Each trip is designed to highlight an area or else to create cohesion for the games they play. The general formula for a trip is a lunch game, a dinner game, and a sleeping inside or outside game, a morning mission, and a getting off work game. Half of the members (in teams or as individuals) will win lunch. The same will be true of dinner and the right to sleep inside instead of in a tent, etc. Trips often cover several episodes.*
This Trip’s Theme: Surviving As a Celebrity’s Manager trip
My Entertainment Score: overall 9 out 10 laughs
It was fun getting to know the managers even a little bit during this trip and it was fun to see non-celebrities try out some of the classic games that don’t necessarily look all that hard when you’re watching from the comfort of your couch.
What Happened:
Opening (45:40 of ep 175- 56:36)
The trip this week is headed to Dangjin in South Chungcheong Province. As it’s Family Month, the members are joined by their managers, who are like family…except for Junghoon’s, who is brand new. Oh…And Jongmin, who is joined by fellow KOYOTE member, Bbaekga. Each manager gets a little time to introduce themselves. *Note: He wasn’t often highlighted, but I personally thought Seyoon’s manager was hilarious.*
Breakfast Game (56:36- 1:26:45 of episode 175)
The managers have 15 minutes and $10 to go buy breakfast for their celebrity.
1:04:10 - Then the celebrities have to guess which breakfast was purchased for them. Those that match correctly will get packed lunches for the bus ride to Dangjin.
1:11:30 - Everyone boards a bus to go to the next location.
1:15:40 - Ice Breaker Game: Anonymous Chat From Deep Inside. The managers answered polls about their celebrities in a text version. The questions were things like “Honestly, I feel uncomfortable being here today” and “There was a time when I found my celebrity very annoying”.
What I Want From My Celebrity Games (1:26:45 of episode 175- end of ep 176)
Several games were played to help the celebrities and their managers become even closer friends. After each, a number on a board (1- 16) was chosen. Under each number was a wish that one of the managers had for their celebrity. The celebrity would carry out whatever wish was revealed.
Get Your Shoes - 1:26:45. Three teams at a time get on the Disco Bang Bang Amusement Park Ride. After it has begun spinning and bouncing, a whistle is blown. The members and managers have to make their way to the center and wear the shoes with their celebrity’s face on it. At the end of the ride, the teams with the most shoes (four possible) on will win. The winner revealed 4 wishes and then could choose which one he wanted.
Round 1: Junghoon Team, Seyoon Team, Seonho Team
Round 2: Jongmin Team, Dindin Team, Inwoo Team (start of episode 176)
Round 3: Winners Round. Because there are only two teams, the rules are altered. Only 2 shoes are on the ride. The celebrity that is wearing both at the end of the ride wins.
Bonding Time For the Get Your Shoes Losers - 15:35. The 4 teams that didn’t win any rounds of the previous game ride the ferris wheel.
Lunch - 19:40. To decide who would pay for the meal, the managers wore blindfolds and stood behind the members to feed them jjajangmyeon. The members wore white cloths and had 4 minutes to finish the bowl. If food is left, the team is disqualified and will have to pay. Also the member that is the dirtiest (face and cloth) will have to pay.
Bodyguard Dodgeball - 33:20.
Round 1: The Teams were split into two. Junghoon, Dindin, and Seonho’s Teams combined. Jongmin, Seyoon, and Inwoo’s Teams combined. So, this game was played as 6 v 6. Each manager had to protect his celebrity. If the celebrity was hit, both the celebrity and manager were out and moved to the line behind the opposing team. The manager could be hit without getting out. All the members of a team had to be out for the opposing team to win.
Round 2: Winners Round. Bodyguard one-legged fight. Once again, the managers need to protect the celebrities. The managers can get up no matter how many times they are knocked down, but the whole team is out when the celebrity falls.
Reveal the Wisher - 49:15. A couple teams (celebrity and manager) take turns. They race down a path to a random door in the woods. The person to go through and close the door wins. If the celebrity wins, the staff will reveal what wishes the manager made. If not, the wishes for that manager will remain a secret.
Give Gifts To Your Manager - 56:56. Fifteen gifts were available based on pre-interviews. Robot cleaner, headphones, a coupon for a blind date, etc.
Round 1-3: One at a time teams were given a keyword such as ‘dinner’ or ‘ski jumping’. They had to make matching gestures to pass. This was played until only one team passed. That manager could pick one of the gifts.
Round 4: Played tournament style, the celebrities played rock, paper scissors. The manager of the winning celeb had to grab a squeaky hammer and hit the loser on the head. The manager of the losing celeb could grab a pot to block the hammer. The winner can pick 2 gifts.
Round 5: A manager and a celeb stand at opposite ends of the field and do 15 elephant spins. Then they run to the center, align correctly on lines and touch pointer fingers together, E.T. style. The fastest pair can pick 3 gifts.
Bonus Round: 1:22:37. This is a common knowledge quiz and it's for the opportunity to steal the gifts already earned so far. Managers played the first game without any help from the celebs. (Not sure they would have actually been of any help, but that was the rule.) Then the roles were reversed and the members answered the questions. For the final questions, each team was allowed to pick who would answer.
Dinner Games (start of episode 177- 37:42)
Dinner was played Celebrities vs Managers. There were 3 rounds for 3 main dishes. Immediately following each game, the winning team had to roll a die to decide how many minutes they had to cook and eat the dish that was just won.
Perfect Pitch Game - 2:15. You know this one. Emphasize syllables one at a time (BAnana baNAna banaNA). This was played for beef.
Hit Or Miss Game - 11:50. This was played 1 v 1 against the managers. Points were scored when one or the other got coffee while the other got sand lance coffee. This game was for crab stew.
Group Jump Rope - 24:25. The prize here was a food truck ticket.
**Note: The managers were excused from this point on. They didn’t have to play the sleeping game or any morning missions.**
Sleeping Game: Keep Bbaekga’s Mouth Shut (37:42- 50:50)
Essentially, this game is being brought back from older shows. (BTOB did this as well and it was hilarious.) Each member draws a random phrase such as “really” or “Shinji”. Then a conversation with Bbaekga commences. Any time Bbaekga says one of the phrases, the member that chose it has a bucket of water dumped on him. The members with the least number of buckets dumped on them will get to sleep inside OR if any member reaches 10 splashes, he will automatically sleep outdoors.
Morning Mission (50:50- 1:16:35 op episode 177)
The timestamp is actually at the end of the sleeping game where the instructions were first given. Members’ mics are placed above their heads where they sleep. In the morning, they are responsible for the mic. When the alarm sounds, they will be given instructions.
Bbaekga’s Parting Mission - 55:00. After the members get settled, Bbaekga hides one of each pair of shoes with each member’s face on it around the area. In the morning, the members must find their pair of shoes and wear them in order to get breakfast.
Shoe Hunt - 59:50. Anyone that finds their full pair of shoes in 10 minutes can eat. The food is removed for EVERYONE at the end of 10 minutes. Also, the members were only allowed to leave after they had found both shoes.
Preview: The Ant and the Grasshopper Trip. You know that story right? The ant works hard and saves for winter while the grasshopper is lazy and simply steals food in the winter. Anyway, the next trip is based on that fable. I wonder who will be the ants…

Manager Gifts
There were so many rounds that it began looking crowded, so I decided to condense down to the main points.
Dindin’s Team won the Rock, Paper, Scissors Tournament.
Seonho’s Team won the Elephant spin. And then Seonho helped Jongmin set a new speed record so that Jongmin could make sure Bbaekga got a gift.
Seyoon’s manager is the only one that didn’t get a gift.
And…of vital importance to later episodes…Inwoo’s manager got a blind date coupon!
Dinner Games
Perfect Pitch Game: Celebrities won. They rolled 1 and thus had only 1 minute to cook and eat.
Hit Or Miss Game: Managers won. They rolled a 3 and had 3 minutes to cook and eat.
Group Jump Rope: Celebrities won. They rolled a 3 and were given 5 minutes to get food at the food truck and eat. Two extra minutes were given due to the travel, I think.
TWIST: Bbaekga had a special privilege that he could switch to the celebrity team for one time only. He used that advantage to eat at the food truck instead of Jongmin.

Junghoon - 1
Jongmin - 9
Seyoon - 5
Dindin - 4

Jongmin passed with only a few seconds left, so he didn’t get to eat, but he could leave on time.
Junghoon had to stay and find his other shoe after the others left.
