Variety Review 2Days, 1Night, Season 4- Episode 93 pt 2- 94 Fall Picnic trip

*2 Days, 1 Night is a show where 6 regular cast members take themed trips around Korea to show off its charms. Each trip has a theme designed to highlight an area or else to create cohesion for the games they play. The general formula for a trip is a lunch game, a dinner game, and a sleeping inside or outside game. Half of the members (in teams or as individuals) will win lunch. The same will be true of dinner and the right to sleep inside instead of in a tent. Trips often cover several episodes.*

This Trip’s Theme: Fall Picnic trip

My Entertainment Score: overall 9 out 10 laughs

Episode 93 pt. 2 was an 8 for me. Good games and excited members.

Episode 94 was a 9 for me. This trip was full of unusual game issues, in both episodes, but they took it to the end in this one and it was a hoot.

What Happened:

Opening (11:48 of ep 93- 27:10)

All the members arrive carrying bundles. Because the trip is a fall picnic theme, they were all asked to bring lunch from home. They take time to show off their special from-home lunches.

They are in the North Gyeongsang Province, in the city of Cheongsong, which is known for its apples and beautiful scenery in the mountains around it. Unfortunately, it rained the entire time they were there, so they had to take the show inside and a lot of the games were changed to accommodate the new location.

Lunch Game (27:10- )

They played as a team. Depending on how well they did, they were able to get a certain number of their home lunches. A random draw will be done to decide whose lunches are kept and shared if they fail to protect all six of them.

First Mission: Shake Your Hips (32:20- 54:19)

Failure will lose them two lunches. A tissue box with ping pong balls in it is affixed to a belt. Each member takes a turn. For 30 seconds, they shake, jump, and whatever else they can think of to remove the ping pong balls. If the group, as a whole, has a combined total of less than 15 ping pong balls left, they succeed…..And then that went horribly wrong almost immediately. So they changed it to a 1 vs 1 battle, member vs staff.

Second Mission: Speak In Big Pictures (54:19- end of episode 93)

They travel to a new location. Their bus antics are shown. They arrive at an art museum which holds the largest painting in the world! WHOA! It’s featured in the show and it’s beautiful.

(1:02:27- end of episode 93) The 2nd mission is explained and begins. Half the members will stand up on a second story balcony. The other half will take turns wielding a GIANT paintbrush. I mean, this thing basically looked like a tree trunk with 5 mops attached to the base..HUGE. They will play pictionary, essentially, drawing words for the other members to guess. They succeed if they guess 5 or more questions in 5 minutes. If not, they lose 2 lunch boxes. There are two rounds, so all the members get a turn with the human sized paintbrush. Haha. The first team to draw is Seyoon, Jongmin and Ravi. The second, obviously, is Seonho, Dindin, and Junghoon.

Lunch (start of episode 94- 10:09)

I included the drawing lots for lunch boxes in this section. They ate at an indoor gateball court on the grass, as if it was a real picnic. The rain kept them from enjoying a picnic outdoors. It was nice seeing all the guys enjoy a meal at the same time for a change.

Snack Game (start of episode 76- 27:17)

After travelling, the members arrive at a sprawling field of flowers. In the garden, red and yellow umbrellas are hidden. The members have to find one each (opening them to check what they say) and bring them back to the starting position. The umbrellas have snacks written inside. If each member brings a different snack, they will get to eat all of the snacks they have chosen. There are 12 possible snacks on the umbrellas, so this is a doable game.

Thanks to a few particular members, this was so much funnier than it had any right to be.

Dinner Game: Random Dance Talent Show (27:17- )

Game Explaination (27:17- 37:18)

This was also a group battle. They had 5 chances to dance a choreography perfectly. The choreography was preset and they only got to watch it once (35:02 for those that wish to see it). It was a popular dance from a while back called “Jjarabbabba”. It’s not hard at all and is pretty fun. I danced along. The random part of the game is that ONLY the person called on, at random, should dance the choreography until a new person is chosen. When a mistake is made, they will each get a bucket of water tossed on them.

Game (37:18- 1:01:13)

I love these guys...really. So much.

Dinner (1:01:13- 1:08:45)

Morning Mission (1:08:45- end of episode 94)

There was no sleeping mission this week. In the morning, they had to all get on a bus right away to go to a new location for the big finale of a picnic trip. They were extremely confused by that.

They travel to Jusan Resevoir and see an actual otter swimming around. Jealousy, thy name is otters. Their final mission is….*drum roll* GROUP PICTURES!

Preview: The Man of Autumn Special. We’re on a trip to find out which of the members best fits the season. My vote? Junghoon. … Or Ravi, who suits every season. I know, I know. I’m hopeless.

*****SPOILERS*****

Lunch Game

Shake Your Hips:

Dindin wins.

Junghoon wins.  **Sidenote: Why does Ravi still look good wearing a lunch box?**

Seonho wins.

Seyoon wins. ---The members do not lose 2 lunch boxes.--

Talk In Big Pictures:

Round 1: 3 correct guesses-- Fail. They will lose two lunch boxes.

Round 2: 4 correct guesses-- Fail. They will lose another two lunch boxes.

OR WILL THEY?  The members negotiate for another chance. If they fail, they will lose all their lunchboxes, but if they succeed, they will get to keep 4.

Bonus Round 3: 5 correct guesses! They get to keep 4 lunches.

Drawing for lunch boxes: Ravi (chicken shake), Seonho (ramyeon and lobster), Jongmin (sausage and ramyeon), and Seyoon (kimbap, and lots of other things) are chosen. The members negotiate to trade 2 for 1 to get Dindin’s meal, made by his mom. Ravi and Jongmin’s lunches are given up.

Snack Game

Jongmin picked bagged snacks.

Seyoon picked candy and jelly. Good.

Dindin picked coffee. Good good.

The last three reveal together…

Junghoon picked fruit. Good good good!

Ravi picked coffee… Oh no!

And Seonho picked fruit.... Double oh no!  --No snacks for the members.

Dinner Game

They failed. Hahahah.

But, they felt like they could do it, so they negotiated for another try. 2 of them would have to sleep outdoors, no matter what happened with a sleeping game, if they fail. ---Fail.

Negotiate Again! 2 more must sleep outside if they fail. ---Fail.

Negotiate Again! All of them must sleep outside if they fail. ---FAIL! Hahaha

Negotiate More! Dindin would have to sleep without a tent if they fail. And because this is so many attempts, they won’t get the full meal regardless of the result. --SUCCESS!!!! Good job!!!
