*2 Days, 1 Night is a show where 5 regular cast members take themed trips around Korea to show off its charms. Each trip has a theme designed to highlight an area or else to create cohesion for the games they play. The general formula for a trip is a lunch game, a dinner game, and a sleeping inside or outside game. Half of the members (in teams or as individuals) will win lunch. The same will be true of dinner and the right to sleep inside instead of in a tent. Trips often cover several episodes.*

This Trip’s Theme: Alone in Hell trip

My Entertainment Score: overall 8 out 10 laughs

Episode 138 pt. 2 was an 8 for me. This was the part of the trip with the most and funniest games.

Episode 139 was a 9 for me. I am ranking this high less for the funny factor and more for the heart-warming moments of it. The games were good, but I’ll remember the sweetness more.

Episode 140 pt. 1 was an 8 for me. Considering it was just the one game, I got a good laugh out of this little segment.

What Happened:

Opening (6:26 of episode 138- 12:56)

The members gather and take a seat…there are two seats for two people and one solo seat. They chat about getting a new member to round out the cast and then learn about the day ahead. Yes, their teams are set for the time being, with one member on their own. There are 2 islands…one is completely unoccupied. The other is a resort with everything they could want.

First Change Your Fate Game (and Travel before and after) (12:56- 23:20)

The members play beach dodgeball with the queen rules. One member is queen and the team is safe as long as that member is not hit. If, however, they hit that member within a 3 minute time limit, the teams can switch a member. The solo member teams up with his cameraman and is desperate to join a team so that he isn’t the one to go to the deserted island alone.

Second Change Your Fate Game (23:20- 37:27)

The solo member, again, plays with their camera man. The name of the game is “Unison In Gestures”. After hearing a keyword, the two teammates, but perform the same action or make the same pose. Each correct match gives one point. As soon as a team reaches 3 points, they can board the boat for paradise island. The final team, if it’s not the solo member, will have a random choice game (water or salt water) to decide who goes to hell island.

I’m including their boat rides to their respective islands in this time stamp.

Island Explorations and Lunches (37:27- 59:15)

Starting with hell island, the show bounces back and forth between the two to show just how different the experiences are. The paradise island experience includes a visit to a cafe, a buffet lunch, and free time to play at the beach. Hell island included some time wandering then the painstaking process of starting to set up a place to sleep for the night.

Third Change Your Fate Game (59:15- end of episode 138)

The member on hell island was allowed to pick one member to call out for a chance to change places if they won a game. The game was to find the most Manila clams by weight in 15 minutes. The other three members acted as commentators on the battle. The episode ends with the losing member heading over to the deserted island.

Dinner Missions (start of episode 139 - 52:50)

7 missions are available for the members on paradise island. They split into 2 teams of 2 to play them and have only 30 minutes to go play. If one team passes the mission, everyone can have the menu attached to that mission. If one team fails, the other team can attempt the challenge. If the teams (collectively) can beat all 7 missions in 30 minutes, the member on hell island will be able to join them on paradise island instead of sleeping on the deserted island.

Dinner - 31:52. The members are able to send a picnic basket over to hell island via drone. They could only pack it out of the food that they had, but I was touched by how generous they were to their lonely member.

Dessert Game - 44:00. The members on paradise island have to correctly guess at least 5 out of 10 questions in order to get watermelon salad. As far as the questions, they must match the answers given by the member on hell island.

Sleeping Mission- Paradise Island Crew (52:50- 1:11:17)

The members play badminton while tethered together 2 v 2….which goes terribly, so they switch to table tennis with the added rule that they cannot use any foreign words…which is also somewhat terrible. Hahaha. The team that won got to sleep inside, nice and warm. The losing team slept outside on a platform.

Morning Mission (1:11:17 of episode 139- 18:41 of 140)

The paradise island members head out by boat to rescue the member from hell island and then go have breakfast, then play a game to decide who gets to go home. Members, in pairs, have to play charades from opposite boats. The team that gets the most answers correct in 100 seconds gets to go home immediately. The member that spent time on purgatory island simply picks a team that he thinks will win and he can go home if they win. The losing team has to stay for a fishing challenge. The member in the pair that stays will go home in the order that they catch a fish.

Preview: A trip with friends! This is an ever-popular trip that the show has done a few times. Each member is going to invite a celebrity friend to take a special 2 Days, 1 Night trip with them. Who will we get to meet?

Seyoon gets Dindin (queen) fairly quickly and trades places with him. Now Dindin is the solo member and Jongmin is paired with Seyoon.

Jongmin and Seyoon get 3 points next. -Safe

Inwoo picks the cup of regular water. -Safe

Junghoon heads to hell island alone.
