Ranking All 9 Fromis_9 Title Tracks (Up to DM)

Fromis just passed 100,000 sales with DM, which is a huge benchmark, putting them in a pretty small group of elite girl groups. To celebrate, let’s rank every single title track they’ve ever released! Oh, and I’m counting Glass Shoes despite it being a pre-debut single because 9.

9. Fun!

I think Fromis is basically a no-miss group in terms of title tracks. Fun however really loses me on the chorus, which is a shame because I think the build-up from the pre-chorus is fantastic. The verses are also pretty middling for me, bouncing between sections I like and sections that I don’t really care for.

8. Talk & Talk

This song got Fromis their first win, hopefully of many. That said, despite enjoying this song and listening to it regularly, I think it has to be in 7th. This song is highly mood dependent for me, I’m listening to it as I type and I’m having a good time, but sometimes it’s just a little too much when I want to be calm and quiet.

7. To Heart

What a nice debut song, it really set up Fromis’s style to come, with the energetic upbeat jams that you just want to bop along with. I think this one hits the spot just right with its energy which is why I can put it over Talk & Talk. I think the thing that keeps this one down is that it doesn’t quite have that something special that I feel with most of their other songs, something uniquely Fromis.

6. Pitapat (DKDK)

I liked To Heart, but DKDK got me to start paying more attention to Fromis, it’s so catchy. I like the sense of going forward that the song has, especially in the chorus, it just makes you want to move. Despite being fairly simple, this is a song that doesn’t tire quickly due to it’s upbeat energy. I always listen to this song and think to myself, “I could listen to that again.”

5. Glass Shoes

The vocal beat making that this song starts with is absolute fire, one of the coolest beats in kpop, and it’s done with vocals, I love it. The chorus soars as well, it just takes flight and carries you up into the sky with it, this song is great. I honestly had this song lower and shifter it way up as I wrote this, I don’t know why it wasn’t here to begin with.

4. Feel Good (Secret Code)

I had stopped thinking about Fromis after their hiatus began, but Feel Good made me get back into them more than ever before, it’s what brought me to start watching their variety content. You may have noticed that all their post-hiatus content is left and one other song, well, I believe that Fromis truly came back better than ever, and has only been going up. This has one of the best nanana sections in kpop, and another great chorus that absolutely takes off when it hits.

3. DM

The highlight here is the chorus for me, especially “it doesn’t matter,” which really kicks the whole thing off and is super addicting. I’m usually big on Jiwon’s vocals, but Hayoung’s vocals really steal the show for me on this song, she just goes for it and hits incredibly well. That said, I actually really like everybody’s vocals here, you can see how much they’ve grown, and it’s exciting to think they’ve got even more time to get better still.

2. We Go

I keep saying it, but this chorus grows wings and soars, it’s one of the best things that Fromis does. One of the most magical things here is that it doesn’t really feel like it drops after any of the chorus’s, it just levels at minimum and then takes you higher on the next chorus, it’s like a little rush of excitement every time it comes around. All this is to say, even the rest of the song keeps up, which is impressive considering the highs that it has to measure up to, it’s why this song ended last year in 12th in arguably the best year of kpop in over a decade.

1. Love Bomb

My winner is the only song in the top 4 from before the Fromis hiatus. I think that this is the quintessential kpop girl group song, and should be looked at as a pillar for the genre. This song is bright, colorful, unique, and relentless, you get virtually no room to think for a little over 3 minutes of fun. The vocals are on point, the energy is perfect, and it always makes me feel happy at the end of the day, and that’s what music is about, affecting emotion.

So, that’s Fromis, and boy is their discography fun, as a fan for many years it was fun to write and go back listening through all their songs (some of the b-sides along the way too, shoutout to Weather my top song of 2020). This group always puts a smile on my face, and I’m glad to have done them second for this series after WJSN. That said, what group do you want to see next? I have year-old rankings that I just need to update and write articles for the following groups: Dreamcatcher, Loona (including solos and sub-units), Oh My Girl, Gfriend, Iz*one, Rocket Punch, Itzy, Everglow, (G)I-dle, and GWSN, although I’ll probably do the entire GWSN discography, it’s just too complete not to. Let me know what you want to see ranked next, see you on the next one.
