2Days, 1Night, Season 4- Episode 155 pt 2- The Way to Santa Claus Village Review

*2 Days, 1 Night is a show where 5 regular cast members take themed trips around Korea to show off its charms. Each trip is designed to highlight an area or else to create cohesion for the games they play. The general formula for a trip is a lunch game, a dinner game, and a sleeping inside or outside game, a morning mission, and a getting off work game. Half of the members (in teams or as individuals) will win lunch. The same will be true of dinner and the right to sleep inside instead of in a tent, etc. Trips often cover several episodes.*

This Trip’s Theme: The Way to Santa Claus Village

My Entertainment Score: overall 8 out 10 laughs

Episode 155 pt 2 was a 9 for me.

Episode 156 was a 7 for me. The first half was more heartwarming than funny. Still good to watch.

Episode 157 pt 1 was an 8 for me.

What Happened:

Opening aka Dindin and Seonho’s Awkward Date (31:55 of ep 155- 44:41)

Dindin is back and finally gets to meet the new member. Because he is shy, they have Seonho and Dindin meet early. To break the ice…and boy did they ever need to break the ice…they were given the chance to get coffees for the other members by winning 2 out of 3 mini-games.

The first game is to stand side by side and catch a square of toilet paper (as a team, one hand each) that is dropped between them. The second game is much the same but they have to catch it between their faces. The final game was to break a double ice cream perfectly down the middle.

Actual Opening - 40:10

Train Trip (44:41- end of episode 155)

There is a special Santa train over there! It takes you to a special Santa village tourist attraction. So sweet!

Snack Game - 47:10. At one of the stops, the members do a relay to get snacks. They must find an ornament with one of their faces on it and place it on the tree. Anyone with an ornament on the tree will get a snack.

Santa v Rudolph Choice Game - 1:01:55. They are told that because the episode will air on Christmas, they will get to deliver gifts to the residents of the area. For that very special activity, half of the members will get to be Santas and the other half will be Rudolphs that carry Santa on their back. In order to decide which role each of them gets, they play a simple game on the train.

Linear Yutnori is what they called the game. The members tossed the yutnori sticks to determine how many “spaces” they could travel. Essentially, they rolled a die with a space that makes them move -1 or -2. Each of the spaces had a condition in order to be able to stay there. If they fail the condition, they have to go back to their previous space and roll again on their next turn. Only one person could be in a space at a time. So if one member was at space 3, for instance, and another person rolled 3 and completed the mission, the newer person would take the spot while the other person would have to go back to the start. The newer person would also get to take another turn. The first 3 members to move all the way to the other end of the train would be Santas.

Space 1- Break chopsticks with your butt…yup.

Space 2- Catch 5 gonggi on the back of their hand and then catch all five like the last step of playing gonggi stones.

Space 3- Odd or Even Magazine. The member has to guess odd or even and then open a magazine randomly. The number of faces on the open page needed to match their guess.

Space 4- 10 seconds to complete a perfect pitch game. (FOURteen fingers fourTEEN fingers fourteen FINGers fourteen fingERS)

Space 5- Eating jelly with your face. The member put a jelly on their forehead, then had 10 seconds to get it to their mouth without dropping it or using their hands.

Space 6- Generous Donor. The first member had to agree to donate $50. Every member after that had to donate a larger amount than the previous person.

Space 7- Thread a needle in 5 seconds. (I would rule this game!)

Santa Games (start of episode 156- 42:53)

The Rudolphs and Santas are paired based on ribbon and belt colors. Jongmin with Junghoon. Seonho with Seyoon. Inwoo with Dindin.

Present Red Light, Green Light - 5:17. The members will play red light, green light, but along the way, they need to pick up presents. Each present that they bring is a present they get to deliver to the community.

Present Delivery - 16:50. Each team gets to take 2 presents that were specifically requested by community members. They then get a map that marks which community members requested presents. They have to visit houses until they discover the ‘owners’ of the gifts they chose. This was equal parts heart-warming and hilarious because of the Santa piggyback dynamics.

Dinner Game (42:53- 1:09:07)

The dinner games were played in teams of 3: Junghoon, Jongmin, Seonho v. Seyoon, Dindin, Inwoo. There is a flag for each of the 5 main dishes after each segment of a race. The team with the flag gets the dish.

First, the teams put one member on a standing swing. For one minute, they toss small ‘cookies’ to that member to catch in his mouth. The team with the most munches gets to start the first section race 5 seconds early. It is simply running.

The second segment is making a chair for one member and carrying them through that section of the race.

The following 3 sections are played in a relay. Section 3 is to lay face down on a gym scooter and roll to the next section. The fourth section is traveling by tricycle. The final section is forward rolls.

Dinner - 57:39.

Sleeping Game (1:09:07 of episode 156- end of episode156)

Okay guys…hear me out…this may need to become an actual sport. They called it broom soccer. An old fashioned (think witch) broom is tied to each person’s waist in the back (think tail). They are only allowed to ‘kick’ the ball with their broom. The ball is a football, so obviously it bounces in all kinds of funky ways and the goal is to sweep it into a soccer net.

They played with the same teams for the dinner game. The game was only two halves, 5 minutes long each. Violation of the rules resulted in a time out almost like hockey. haha…I just loved this game. They switched to an actual soccer ball at some point because the football was a little beyond their control and I still loved it.

The losing team sleeps on a wooden porch!!

Morning Mission (start of episode 157- 20:56)

The morning mission is to go get mineral water from a nearby natural spring. One person from each team will have to go. To decide who goes, they play ‘Steal the Blanket’ before bedtime. That’s exactly what it sounds like.

Breakfast - 14:15.

Final Tour:New Year Water Dive! (20:56- 46:19 of episode 157)

The members do a quiz to decide which 3 members have to dive in the half frozen creek. Everytime a person answers a question correctly, they can move to a “safe” seat. If any member gets 3 questions right, they are able to lock in a safe seat for themselves.

Preview: Hoon-Min War! The two eldest battle for supremecy after the dive quiz that tore them apart this week!
