My Entertainment Score: 9 out 10 laughs
It makes me happy to see the members all on the same side sometimes. They were clearly happy during the shoot and that was fantastic. Their chatting was mostly entertaining and the games were fabulous...in some cases taking me back, just a little bit to the early years of the show.
What Happened:
Theme: The Day For Chattering
Opening (start of episode- 2:54)
Race Explanation (2:54- 5:19)
A lot of fan comments have said they like the opening banter of the members and the banter as they travel. As such, the team decided to make a race around letting them chat as much as they want.
There is apparently a comparison made between chatty people and young pollack. Catching young pollack isn’t good for the ecology, so they prepared dried pollack instead...100 of them. Between the opening and 3 pm, the member’s goal is to get rid of all 100 dried pollack. If they succeed in getting rid of all the dried pollack by 3pm, there is no penalty. If they still have pollack at 3 pm, 2 members will have to do a penalty. They will continue to film after 3pm if there are still pollack left and for every hour after that in which they fail to reach 0 one extra member will have to face a penalty.
There will be missions every 30 minutes that will help them get rid of the pollack faster, but for every 10 minutes of talk, they will deduct 2 pollack from the total and for every 10 (continuous) seconds of silence, they will gain 2. The members are allowed to eat the dried pollack to get rid of it. The staff prepared topics if the members ran out of talking points....I’ll tell you right now that it wasn’t used.
First Talking Session (5:19- 31:36)
This was fun. They talked about the early years and their impressions of each other at the time as well as some other topics. They had so much fun that the staff had trouble getting their attention when it was time for the first game. They munched on dried pollack while they chatted.
I’m not going to keep track of the real time pollack totals as this goes, because the show wasn’t super clear about it.
First Mission: Staff Doppelganger Tug of War (31:36- 43:23)
This was my favorite part of the whole show. It was hilarious! They picked a member of the staff that had a similar figure to each Running Man member and had a tug of war game...the sticking point?...the staff members were given cleats and non-slip gloves while the members were not.
The members had 10 chances to beat their staff counterparts. If they win on the first try, 10 pollack will be deducted. On the second try 9 will be deducted and so on. On the 3rd try, a member of each team will be chosen at random to be excluded for the next round.
Second Talking Session (43:23- 53:31)
The members moved to a new location, chatting all the while. They even called Kwangsoo for a while. They arrive at a village hall for a chatty lunch. At this point, the members started to get a little nonsensical, but it was funny.
There was a meme-worthy moment at 45:52.
Second Mission: Hold That Scream (53:31- 1:04:43)
This was easily my second favorite part of this episode! They brought in a sports masseuse and had them pick an acupressure point. If they could withstand his massage without a sound for 10 seconds, they will deduct 5 pollack. They allowed the members to try multiple times and multiple points...because they weren’t doing well, as expected. They guy managed to make Jongkook scream on one try.
Third Talking Session (1:04:43- 1:10:24)
The members move to the next location and chat some more. At that point, it was 2:48 and they had 18 pollacks left between missions, talking, and eating.
Third Mission: Joint Responsibility Quiz (1:10:24- 1:20:48)
The members were arranged with the self-chosen least knowledgeable in every other spot between the most knowledgeable. They were then given questions. If a person knew the answer, they would call out their name and then give ONLY the first syllable of the answer. They would then pick a person next to them who would have to continue with the next syllable and on down the line. These were not super difficult questions. For each correct answer, they could remove 2 pollack.
Results (1:20:48- end of episode)
Preview: The strange family photo race. Things start out normal, but it seems like some pretty strange costumes are going to be potentially used...plants and dogs and such. I bet the fight to stay away from those is going to be fierce. Looks like no guests next week either.
!!!Spoilers!!!
Staff Doppelganger Tug of War
The members finally won on their 6th try, so 5 dried pollack were removed.
Hold That Scream
Out of the many many tries, only 5 times were they able to endure the massage. 35 dried pollack were removed.
Joint Responsibility Quiz
The members were able to get rid of all the remaining pollack during this mission.

They finished their mission at 3:42, so two people needed to get the punishment.
They played a pop-up game (like the pop-up pirate) but this one was an adorable pop-up porcupine!!!! My kids have forbidden me from buying one to decide who has to shower first...they’re very cruel to me. Lol. One member from the least knowledgeable group and one from the most knowledgeable group was chosen for the punishment.
Haha (most knowledgeable) and Sechan (least knowledgeable) popped the porcupine quills and were chosen for punishment.
The punishment was to go to a new baseball park for children in the area. They had to hit 10 balls off a tee while the other went around picking them all up, then trade and do the same. I’m glad this was Haha and Sechan. They made it a real game and it didn’t seem too awful for them. I want them to play more baseball actually….Maybe they can do another sports with super powers episode soon!! That would be great!!!
