Running Man Episode 634 Review
Guests: None, but the public joins in a wonderful way.
My Entertainment Score: 9 out of 10 laughs
I enjoyed the games in this episode without fail and the presents were such a mess that it was hilarious. I doubt this episode will have a lot of replay-ability, but it’s very definitely an amusing watch.
What Happened:
Theme: YooSanta and the 6 Rudolphs
Opening (start of episode- 8:35)
Rules Given- 5:20 The members are told that they will be allowed to go shopping for Christmas presents for themselves using a $300 budget. There is a twist that is revealed later.
They are also given a special rule for the rest of the episode. Jaesuk’s feet must not touch the ground. For each step Jaesuk takes, they will gather 10 minutes earlier for the New Year episode. The PD reveals that she would like to see the sun rise with the members. She’s hilarious.
Shopping (10:55- 26:47)
Kids toys, alcohol, vegetables, workout clothes, fish tank supplies….the members all get things that they want.
Rule Reveal (26:47- 28:30)
This is where the members learn that the gifts that they chose for themselves are actually going to citizens. (Poor citizens!) They will play three games. In each game, they will invite 2 citizens that are in the area to join them. At the end of the game, those citizens will be able to randomly draw for one of the presents. There is also a penalty in each game where some of the presents will not be given out.
First Mission: One-Breath Reading (28:30- 45:28)
The members and citizens will each take a turn for this mission. First, they will run on a treadmill for 1 minute (set at speed 12 or 13!). Immediately following that, they will take a breath and read as much of a paragraph as they can before taking another breath. The next member will start reading from where the previous member stopped reading. The mission is a success if they get to the end of the paragraph. For each failed attempt (all 9 members reading is 1 attempt) 2 presents will be randomly selected to be out.
Lunch (45:28- 56:33)
Along with trying to keep Jaesuk from taking any steps at a buffet, the members gave out gifts to many of the staff there.
Second Mission: Initial Consonant Quiz (56:33- 1:07:55)
Each member and the 2 citizens will have three seconds to give a correct answer after a card is held up. The card has a category at the top (such as animal) and initials. For example a card might read “Animal: B.W.” and one correct answer would be “Blue Whale”. If all 9 people, in a row, are able to give 1 correct answer, it is a success. 1 present is randomly removed for each failure.
Third Mission: Jegichagi (1:07:55- 1:22:22)
The members and 2 citizens simply have to collectively get 80 kicks on the jegichagi (as a reminder, that is the Korean version of a hacky sack). That means that, roughly, each person needs to get 9 kicks. They are only given 3 chances and each failure results in 3 presents being randomly chosen for removal.
Final Results (1:22:22- end of episode)
The New Year’s Special Episode will start filming at 7am instead of 10am due to Jaesuk’s steps throughout the day. Each member gets to draw for 1 present. Any remaining presents were handed out by the staff to citizens later.
Preview: Running Man Outing. This is a Running Man twist on a well-known Korean variety show called Family Outing, where a group goes out to a country house and makes a meal together (at the very least) during a 2 day, 1 night trip. Joo Woojae will once again join the team for this special episode.
