Jul 1 Variety Review: Running Man Episode 604

Guests: Moonbin, Sanha, and Eunwoo of Astro

My Entertainment Score: 8 out of 10 laughs

There was a long-ish talking game in this episode, which was funnier than I expected since I’ve grown somewhat of a distaste for those games, but I still would have preferred something else. Astro is an active group and it seems a waste to have them sitting and respectfully listening.

What Happened:

Theme:

Opening/Race Explanation (start of episode- 8:35) and (17:24- 20:25)

The opening was done in two places, one for each team. The Astro members join Somin and Sechan on the black rose team. The rest of the members make up the white rose team.

For the sake of article coherency, I’m putting the race explanation here even though it came after the first game. The second time stamp is the race explanation. The teams will earn a number of roses for each game depending on if they win or lose. The ladies will distribute those to their members as they wish. At the end of the day, the men with the most roses will get prizes. The men with the least will be eligible for a penalty. The men will get one vote per rose to vote for one of the ladies as a leader that day. The lady that gets the least votes will also be eligible for a penalty.

First Mission: TMI Quiz (20:25- 17:24)

The ladies on each team give a TMI quiz (questions they come up with). Each correct answer earns the guy a rose. The way these quizzes went could not have been more different.

Second Mission: Astro Skills Triathlon (20:25- 35:05)

Each member is known for a skill. Games are played based on those skills. The winner of each game will get an extra rose.

2:2 Basketball (22:47) - Eunwoo is known for playing basketball well. Eunwoo and Somin play against Haha and Jihyo. The first to 3 points wins. Jaesuk is the ref.

Ssireum (29:13) - Moonbin is known for being good at this. Moonbin v. Jongkook

Trick Shots (33:50) - Sanha is confident about trick shots. They try to bounce ping pong balls into cups on the other side of the table. Sanha v. Jaesuk

Third Mission: nt (35:05- 1:06:07)

Travel/Lunch (35:05- 46:53)

Yes Or No The members are asked a yes or no question. Each member holds up their answer. The team with the most ‘yes’ answers wins. They’re asked to explain their answers when there is a tie. More roses are given to the team that wins more questions.

Fourth Mission: BUNGEE VOLLEYBALL!! (1:06:07- 1:18:09)

The members are hooked up to bungees hanging from the ceiling. They play volleyball over a double height net with an enormous beach ball. Side note: I want to play sooooooo bad. Side note 2: Sanha cracked me up in this. He was an active and helpful player, but basically went boneless between bursts of play so that he looked like an enormous baby in a swing. The whole team was really funny in the bungee harnesses.

Final Results (1:18:09- end of episode)

The last roses are distributed and the votes for the ladies. The two men with the lowest amount of roses and the lady with the least votes choose a covered bucket. One bucket has water, one has confetti, and one has black ink.

Preview: Murder mystery episode!! I love these! One of the members is guilty and must hide their tracks. The rest must find the culprit. Actresses Kim Jiyoung, Hong Yeji, and Hwang Seokjeong join the regular cast to try to solve this mystery.

**I’m not going to track the individual rose totals of each of the guys. I started to and it was tedious and annoying to read.**

Astro failed to win ANY of these, so Jihyo gets 3 roses to hand out and Somin has none.

Astro failed to win all five questions, so 5 more roses go to Jihyo’s team. 3 go to Somin’s team.

Bungee Volleyball

Somin’s Team wins. 5 roses for the winning team and 3 for Jihyo’s team.
