*2 Days, 1 Night is a show where 6 regular cast members take themed trips around Korea to show off its charms. Each trip is designed to highlight an area or else to create cohesion for the games they play. The general formula for a trip is a lunch game, a dinner game, and a sleeping inside or outside game, a morning mission, and a getting off work game. Half of the members (in teams or as individuals) will win lunch. The same will be true of dinner and the right to sleep inside instead of in a tent, etc. Trips often cover several episodes.*

My Entertainment Score: overall 8 out 10 laughs

Episode 153 was a 6 for me. There was a lot of getting to know the new guy going on in this episode, which is super important, but not especially funny.

Episode 154 was a 9 for me. Here we had the game heavy portion of the trip. Three of the four games were played in this episode, so it was action packed and funny.

Episode 155 part 1 was an 8 for me. To wrap up the trip, they made a super cool breakfast and did some activities together. Much of the awkwardness of the first part of the trip was gone so this felt more pleasant overall.

What Happened:

Seonho Self Cam (start of ep 153- 2:37)

Welcome Yoo Seonho to the show! Whooo! Round of applause! This episode opens with our new member doing a self cam the day before his first shoot where he chats with us and packs for his first trip.

Opening/Travel to First Location (2:37- 18:40)

Dindin was unable to film due to a positive COVID result, so his manager played games in his place whenever it was needed for even numbers of team members.

They are traveling to Dangyang for this trip. It has many historical sites so the theme of the trip was “Travel Back in Time”. They start by going to Mural Village (yes…that is on my travel bucket list). I’m including Seonho’s separate arrival at the first location in this section, because all those parts are more talking than anything else

Team Formation Game (18:40- 45:55)

Seonho is given the mission to dress up like he’s from the 1970’s and hide from the other members. The members don’t know who the new member is yet, so they have to find him. The order in which they find him will be the order they will get to try to form a team with him.

Hide and seek - 25:50

After catching Seonho, they have a short chat to get to know each other a little bit.

Team Formation Games - 35:13

In the order that the members found Seonho, they will pick a game to play 1v1 against him. The first 2 members to beat him will join his team.

They can play the lucky game (sand lance coffee v coffee), perfect pitch game, or a general knowledge quiz. I won’t reveal which games each member played or what order they played them in…but I’ll reveal the teams here because it would be nonsense if I tried to write the whole rest of the article without giving that away.

Team 1: Junghoon, Inwoo (Dindin’s manager)

Team 2: Jongmin, Seyoon, Seonho

Race Explanation (45:55- 48:03)

They will move around to various locations that focus heavily on history and play games for points and meals.The team with the most points at the end of the day will get to sleep inside.

Note: the team formation game also gave 1 point.

Dodamsambong Peaks: Painter of the Wind Game (48:03- 1:13:08)

The members travel together and chat. At their new destination, they take a cruise and play the game.

Game - 58:35. Each team gets 3 minutes. The members of the team will take turns drawing while the rest of the team guesses what they are drawing. There are categories (movie titles, for example) to narrow things down a bit. After a correct answer the next member will draw the hints. The team with the most correct answers wins 3 points and a leisurely lunch (10 minutes to eat). The losing team will only have 1 minute to eat the same dish.

On Dal Tourist Spot: Final Sleeping Game (1:13:08 of episode 153- 19:10)

Game - start of episode 154. The game was called “Mark the Territory with Flags”. There are 15 buckets placed around the recreated village. The members will have to run around to find them, then play a game to be able to place a flag with their team’s color in the bucket. (There are 3 buckets with no mission.) If a member of the other team comes to the same bucket after and wins the game, they can replace the flag with their own team’s color. The team with the most flags standing at the end of only 13 minutes wins 5 points and will get to sleep indoors.

Note: Dindin’s manager joined in this game and as you can imagine, it degenerated into silliness very quickly.

Basecamp (19:10- 27:38)

The members travel to the basecamp where the winning team will be sleeping in a nice modern building. They have some relaxation time where they practice some of the common games that the show is known for with Seonho.

Dinner Game: Four Stage Toes Game (27:38- 58:53)

The dinner game was individual rather than team based. Each member needed to pass four stages to get dinner. The first 3 to finish could eat.

Stage 1: put your feet in icy water for 30 seconds (...I would never be able to do this)

Stage 2: put on toe socks using only your feet

Stage 3: eat a donut with your feet. They had set up a string with a ring on the end. They had to pull that string up with their feet to make a donut lower from a string above their head. One bite was all they needed…that and a lot of flexibility.

Stage 4: hang laundry with your feet

Dinner - 47:20

Morning Mission (58:53- 10:13 of episode 155)

The members move to a cave! where the sleeping outdoors team is going to stay. They really went back in time for that one. Phew.

Everyone gets to eat breakfast in the morning, we learn, but one team will have to make the breakfast. To determine which team will get the…honor…of making a traditional breakfast to celebrate their new member, they play a game, of course.

Each team chooses one member without knowing what game they will play. Those members wear a blindfold and guess all of the other members of the show by touching their faces. The members to be guessed wear sunflower hats around their faces, so hair and ear and such won’t be a give away.

Game - 1:03:15. Inwoo and Seyoon are the guessers for their teams.

Cooking breakfast - start of episode 155

I would love to be able to try this traditional cooking using a hemp steaming pit! It looks like sooo much more work, but I would still love to try it.

Final Trip Activity (10:13 of episode 155- 31:55)

The members are told to choose either the ‘gravity course’ or the ‘speed course’. Three go to the gravity course and 2 go to the speed course.

First we follow Junghoon and Jongmin to the speed course where they are told to choose between the 1-minute course and the 6-minute course…again, without knowing what they are doing. Junghoon chooses 1 minute and Jongmin chooses the 6 minute course. The 6 minute course is an alpine sledding experience. The 1 minute course is a 264 meter long slide.

The other members go to the gravity course. As with the speed course, they are given the option to defy gravity or follow gravity. The defying gravity course is a slingshot. I’m sure you’ve seen pictures or videos of people passing out on these rides. Seyoon and Inwoo get to ride that particular horror. The following gravity ride that Seonho enjoys is a flying swing. I mentally think of these as the ‘superman swings’ because the rider is lying face down with their arms forward.

Our sweet, sweet members joined Seonho for the swing because it was his first shoot and he’s scared of the swing.

Preview: Christmas Special! The members are going on a special trip to Santa’s Village! Or at the very least a recreation of it and then playing Santa themselves.
